ALACHUA COUNTY CHARTER AMENDMENT 2
Title: Authorization for joint planning agreements
Summary: Shall the Alachua County Charter be amended to authorize interlocal agreements between the county and municipalities to provide for joint planning within the municipality and portions of the unincorporated area not reserved for annexation by another municipality.
YES for approval _______
NO for rejection _______

Explanation:

Currently, each city is responsible for land use planning within its own boundaries. The county is responsible for land use planning in those areas not within the city limits of any city.

Amendment 2, if approved, will allow any city in the county to agree to jointly plan with the county for land use in areas that are :

  1. not within another city
  2. not reserved for future use by another city.
